His Excellency Alexander I. E. Williams assumed duties as High Commissioner for Jamaica to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on 18 October 2023. He concurrently serves as Jamaica’s Permanent Representative to the International th Maritime Organisation (IMO) and as Ambassador to Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden.

His Excellency is an attorney-at-law with more than three decades of practice in both civil and criminal law. He has specialised in civil litigation, constitutional law, commercial disputes, judicial review of administrative action, industrial relations and labour law, and has appeared as lead counsel in all local courts, up to and including the Court of Appeal, as well as before several statutory and quasi-judicial bodies. 

Between 2012 and 2016, he served as a Senator in the Parliament of Jamaica, contributing to a number of joint select committees on banking, insolvency, police oversight, integrity, corruption, and sexual offences legislation. He is a past President of the Jamaican Bar Association, where he championed legal reform and the administration of justice, and has chaired and provided policy guidance to several boards and institutions, including the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, the Land Divestment Advisory Committee, the National Council on Sports, and the Land Information Council of Jamaica.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of the West Indies and a Certificate in Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School. He is a member of the Council of the Jamaican Bar Association and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, and has served on several corporate and statutory boards. Dedicated to community service, he has held leadership roles in the Kiwanis movement locally and regionally, including as Distinguished Lieutenant Governor for Division 23W (Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District).

His Excellency has received the contributions have been recognised with the Godfrey G. Dyer Award for distinguished service to Kiwanis and the Long and Distinguished Service Award from Jonathan Grant High School.

High Commissioner Williams was born on 12 February 1964. He is married and the father of two daughters
