Silesian Region is located in the southern part of Poland, bordering Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Silesia attracts with its industrial history and good business climate as well as geographic, cultural and social diversity. It is a key economic center of Poland with a very strong export position compared to other regions. It is also heading towards building a new economy based on modern and environmentally friendly technologies.

Silesian Region is one with the highest investment attractiveness and the lowest investment risk.

• the region in the forefront in the country in terms of the number of large investors located;

Katowice is the largest city of the Silesian Voivodeship and the center of Metropolis GZM* with 2.3M residents. It has access to 3 international airports (Katowice Airport, Kraków Airport, Ostrava Airport) and a well-developed road network (the A1, A4 motorways, the S1 expressway, and the Silesian Intercity Road (called DTŚ) connecting the largest cities in the Metropolis.

On the Metropolitan level together with Katowice there are 19 universities with almost 90,725 students which guarantees a broad talent pool.

The city focuses on three sectors:

- Katowice is one of the six most developed centers of the modern business services sector in Poland with specializations such as: BPO, SSC/GBS, IT and R&D. Currently, there are 140 modern service centers in Katowice and the metropolis, with over 33,400 employees.

- Next, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) - this is the second key sector in Katowice, also included in the "Development Strategy of the City of Katowice 2030". In 2023, we recorded 6,451 conferences and other business events. The total number of conference days in Katowice was 8,261 days, and their average duration was 1.28 days.

- Our third specialization will be implemented as part of the mega project of the Katowice Gaming and Technology Hub (KHGT). Its goal as a leading innovation center in the field of games, technologies and digital systems is to act actively by deepening and developing knowledge, but also by offering an inspiring place for work, development and education. It is intended to be a central point on Poland's technological map, integrating local and global knowledge, promoting Katowice and the Metropolis on the world stage and developing a future model of a technological ecosystem open to everyone. We have divided the individual business segments as follows:

1) Gaming / e-sports - a unique space for development and competition in e-sports, this will increase the efficiency of gaming sector companies and create opportunities to retrain employee groups based on methodologies supported by gaming models. The goal is to build unique space for games creation & development, e-sport competition to augmenting gaming workforce , leverage reskilling & gamification of work

2) AI Knowledge Exchange – exchange of knowledge of cutting-edge technologies, cooperation with universities, educational platforms, global technology companies and local innovators. The goal is to focus on cutting-edge technologies knowledge exchange through universities, educational platforms, global technology companies and local innovators

3) Digital Bridge - supporting the development of knowledge in the most desirable technological areas on the market, we will also focus here on strengthening the impact of digital technology on business through cooperation between various sectors of the economy. The goal is to develop desired technology and growing business influence

4) Network Accelerator - building and strengthening communities and platforms for the "Golden Triangle" (business-education-administration), start-ups, research and development laboratories that will support the development of innovation and entrepreneurship. The goal is to build a community and platform  for Golden Triangle (business-education-administration) and start-up’s plus R&D labs

*Metropolis  GZM (Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia) covers almost 1/3 of the Silesian Province and includes almost ½ of its population. The Metropolis consists of 41 towns and communes, and also Katowice.

Katowice Special Economy Zone is the leader among Polish SEZs and was recognized as the best free zone in Europe in 2015 – 2017, 2019 and 2021 according to rankings of FDI Intelligence from the Financial Times. There are currently over 600 enterprises operating in the zone and the total level of investment reached over 12 billion euros, while creating over 100,000 jobs in the area. It is strategically located in the centre of Europe which makes it significantly attractive from logistics and infrastructural perspective.

Katowice SEZ offers its service for both global enterprises representing all range of industries (with the focus on automotive sector), as well as local SMEs planning to expand their businesses. It also supports its investors with property and facility consultancy as well as customized solutions related to work force, education and training needs throughout the entire process of investment. Additional services for investors withing the zone such as automotive cluster, cooperation with educational and academic environment, Silesia Smart Systems, European Digital Innovation Hub are also provided.
